Congratulations on purchasing Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia.
This document contains information to help you get optimum performance on the Macintosh version of Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia. If you are having problems installing or running Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia, please read the following notes.
2. System Requirements
If your system does not meet these requirements, the Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia program may not run or the program may perform poorly.

Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia has been accelerated for the Power Macintosh¬.
Operating System requirements
Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia requires System 7.1 or later. In addition, QuickTime¬ 2.1 and Sound Manager 3.1 must be installed on your computer. These system files are included on the Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia CD-ROM disc (see Installation below).
3. Installing Fischer╒s Erotic Encyclopedia
Insert the Fischer╒s Erotic Encyclopedia CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. Fischer╒s Erotic Encyclopedia requires that you have QuickTime 2.1 and Sound Manager 3.1 installed on your hard drive. If you do not have QuickTime 2.1 and Sound Manager 3.1, go to step 2. If you have QuickTime 2.1 and Sound Manager 3.1, go to ╥Running Fischer╒s Erotic Encyclopedia.╙
Double-click on the ╥Put Contents into System Folder╙ folder icon to open the folder. Double-click on the About QuickTime 2.1 icon to open the document. Read it and follow the instructions in it. Do the same for the Sound Manager 3.1 Read Me.
4. Running Fischer╒s Erotic Encyclopedia
To run Fischer╒s Erotic Encyclopedia, insert the Fischer╒s Erotic Encyclopedia CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. Double-click on the Fischer╒s Erotic Encyclopedia application icon.
5. Recommendations for Running Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia
We recommend that you do not run any other program in the background while playing Fischer╒s Erotic Encyclopedia. This will allow the game to run with the maximum amount of memory available on your system. We also recommend that you do not run virus protection software or screen savers when using this game. Do not leave the Monitors control panel open while running Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia.
If your computer is on a network, you should shut down any networking applications. It is also a good idea to turn off File Sharing. In order to do that, go to Control Panels, double-click on the Sharing Setup icon, and click on the Stop button.
6. Hardware Incompatibilities
The Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia program has been designed to work with the hardware components of a wide variety of computer systems. In some cases, however, certain hardware components may not be compatible with the Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia program.
The Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia program requires that hardware components be capable of running projectors (i.e., executable files) created by Macromedia Director¬ and displaying QuickTime movies.
Video problems
If you have a video card that is not compatible with Macromedia projector files or QuickTime 2.1, your system may not be able to run the Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia program.
On computers configured for more than one monitor (one example is the Power Macintosh 6100/60 with an AudioVision 14 monitor), it may be necessary to position the display area of the second display so that it is below that of the first display (the display with the menu bar). To do this, open the Monitors control panel and click on the image of the display labeled with the digit "2", and drag it so that it is below the image of the screen labeled with the digit "1". It may be necessary to restart your computer for this new setting to take effect.
Sound problems
If you do not hear sound when running the Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia program, we recommend that you follow the steps outlined in this section. In general, if you can hear sound playback from the system beep, you will hear sound from Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia.
If you do not hear sound:
a. If you have a set of speakers attached to your computer, make sure that your speakers are properly connected. If your speaker(s) has a power switch make sure that it is turned on. You should also adjust the volume adjustment knob on your speakers.
b. Check the sound playback from the Sound control panel. To check sound playback, go to Control Panels and double-click on the Sound icon to display the Sound dialog box. Verify that the internal speaker volume slider is all the way to the top. Click on one of the sound files in the Files list box. If you do not hear any sound, your sound system has not been properly set up.
c. Make sure that no other programs are running when you run Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia.
d. In the Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia program, adjust the sound level using the slider on the Information ("i") page.
If you follow these steps you should be able to hear sound while running Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia.
7. Memory Requirements
Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia prefers a minimum of 6 Mb of free RAM memory. If there is not sufficient memory for Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia to run, you may experience error messages or poor performance when video movie sequences are displayed. You may also have missing or incorrect sounds and colors. The following suggestions will help ensure that you have sufficient memory to run Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia.
Check the amount of memory available:
a. While in the Finder, choose About This Macintosh... menu item from the Apple menu.
b. The amount of free (i.e., unused) memory will be displayed as the Largest Unused Block. It should be 6,000K or larger.
If your system has enough memory available:
a. Make sure that Virtual Memory is turned off. To do this, go to Control Panels, double-click on the Memory icon, and click the Off button in the Virtual Memory section.
Tips
If your system is low in available memory, you might want to try the steps described below. After each step, check the amount of free memory available so that you don't do more than is necessary:
a. Close some windows and quit the applications you are not using.
b. Remove those Control Panels, Extensions, Sounds and Fonts that are not required for the Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia program. This will release some additional memory. The program only needs QuickTime 2.1, Sound Manager 3.1, and the system font, in addition to the drivers required to run your CD-ROM.
8. QuickTime
The Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia program requires that you have QuickTime 2.1 installed on your computer system. If you do not have QuickTime 2.1 already installed, use the installation procedure described in section 3 of this document. If you have an earlier version of QuickTime running on your computer, you should upgrade to QuickTime 2.1 using the same installation procedure.
9. Customer Service and Technical Support
If you have problems running Fischer's Erotic Encyclopedia, please read the preceding notes first. In many cases, a simple fix will solve your problem. If you still experience difficulties, you can call our customer service telephone number.

Ñ A detailed description of your problem and any messages that were displayed.
Ñ The hardware components in your computer system. This includes the Macintosh model, the type of processor, the version of the operating system, the CD-ROM drive, and the video card, if any.
